Charles and Betty Lou Awrey (1952)Carscallen

Chuck is usually referred to as "Charlie" now.
He attended the University of Michigan and graduated in 1957. Much less than an average student,  Charlie had a wonderful time.
He was a football manager for three years and a senior swimming manager for one year.  He was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity.

On September 14, 1957, Chuck married Betty Lou in West Branch. They lived in the Detroit suburbs for 10 years, where three of their children were born.
They also have six grandchildren.
In September 1967, they moved to Atlanta, Georgia where they got stuck...as they still live in the same house they moved into in 1967.
Charlie went to work selling Life Insurance in 1957 with Mututal of New York for 5 years.
Then he worked two years with Pacific Mutual selling Group Pensions.
He earned his CLY (Charter Life Underwriter) degree in 1966.
John Hancock was his next victim for 23 years, selling Group Pensions, Group LIfe, and Group Medical to employers.
In 1987 they offered an early retirement programs so Charlie got rid of his regular job.
Since then, travel has been a part of his schedule and he and Lou manage some rental properties.

After being on dialysis for 7 years, Charlie was blessed with a new kidney in July 1999.

Their schedule brings them back to West Branch and Jackson, each year, for a football game with Bob and Barb Lally at the Big House.

Donald Daws

A brief stint in an auto factory in Detroit after my high school graduation in 1953, was enough for me.
I enlisted in the U.S. Army for 3 years and served in Korea.

In 1956 I married ZoeAnn Michelli and together we have two daughters and three grandchildren.

I completed training in auto body repair which I did for several years.

I felt God's call into the United Methodist Ministry and began my studies for that while we were living in Whittemore, Michigan
I earned my B.A. from Central Michigan University and my Master of Divinity from the Methodist Theological School of Delaware, Ohio.
I served five appointments in Michigan and one in Ohio in the 32 years of my ministry.

While pastoring in Imlay City, I trained to become a private pilot. It's my fun hobby. Another is restoring antique cars. I've also built my own home.

I retired 6 years ago (1997) and we spend our summers at Thompson Lake in Glennie Michigan. Winters consist of traveling in our motor home with a group of retired folk called "United Methodist Nomads". We do volunteer building, repairing etc. for churches, children's homes, neighborhood centers etc., mostly in the Southwest.

God is good all the time - All the time God is good.

Your first invitation to share our information since highschool, came as we were preparing to have my husband's cancerous left kidney removed.
Then, we had a very bad car accident.  After that I fell and broke my foot and some ribs.
Now I am just recovering from six and a half weeks of vertigo.
As you can see, we had the year from hell.

After graduation, I worked in the payroll department of General Motors until I was married to Lloyd Muehlfeld of Frankenmuth.
We have five children and ten grandchildren.
Another grandchild died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome at four months.

I worked in banking after the youngest got older.  I started as a teller and bookkeeping and ended up as an internal auditor.
We moved to Georgia in 1987 and I did taxes for the next ten years.
Now we are retired, and have traveled quite a bit..partly because our children are scattered from coast to coast..LA, Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Freeland, Michigan and Augusta, Georgia.
We are grateful for all our blessings.

Starting with graduation, I went into a training program with Western Union as a teletype operator and worked in Bay City and Albion, Michigan for a short period.

Dale and I were married in November of that same yar and he entered the service. He was stationed in Columbus, Ohio and I joined him and got a job as switchboard operator and had our first child, Susan, there.

After Dale was discharge, we lived in Saginaw for 12 years and I was busy with my two children..Gary and Susan.
In 1967 Lufkin Rule, where Dale worked, relocated to Apex, North Carolina. We have resided here in the same house ever since.

I worked as a Credit Union manager for the last 15 years and enjoyed helping members with their finances.

We have two children and four grandchildren.

This past August, Dale passed away with a massive heart attack. I plan to stay here in Cary, North Carolina and play a lot of bridge and travel.
